Colorado River Indian Tribes (Crit)/Federally Recognized Tribal Extension

Program (Frtep) Veggie Demonstration Program

The Veggie Demonstration Program is an outdoor classroom for vegetable production located at the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) DHS Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) Compound. Participants of the program learn hands-on how to grow fruits and vegetables, beginning with preparation of planting bed and harvesting. The program is a year-round program, designed so that participants can apply their learning to their own individual backyard gardens. The project is a collaborative project between the Federally Recognized Tribal Extension Program (FRTEP), the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension at La Paz County Family, Consumer, and Health Sciences (FCHS) Program, and the CRIT DHS Food Distribution Program. It is aimed at providing learning opportunities in vegetable production, and nutrition education.
