PATHS – Pathways to Agriculture Tribal Health and Sovereignty is an internship programbased at Montana State University, with a goal of problem solving and combatting issues for Montana’s Indian reservations related to food, health, agriculture, and sovereignty. Students from tribal colleges explore areas of community health, agriculture, and food sovereignty, and learn about interconnectedness of these issues. The research led by the tribal college and university students will focus on supporting Native communities out of poverty by connecting reservations with more nutritious super foods, such as the low glycemic potato seed. This program helps create professional pathways for Native students to work to solve real world problems related to nutrition, economics, plants, etonmology, food sovereignty, diabetes, and community development.
